Advanced Male Infertility Procedure- Testicular Biopsy

About Advanced Male Infertility Procedure- Testicular Biopsy

About one-third of the infertility cases are because by men. The infertility assessment in men includes semen analysis, sperm count, and motility. The advanced procedure, however, is the testicular biopsy. This biopsy helps in determining the root cause of unexplained infertility and low sperm count.

Why Do You Need a Testicular Biopsy?

A testicular biopsy is needed if:

  • The sperm count is very low or there are no sperms in the semen.
  • Failure of other surgical sperm retrieval procedures (PESA and TESA).
  • Unsuccessful ICSI attempts.
  • Non-obstructive azoospermia.

At WINGS IVF, we ensure to conduct a comprehensive evaluation to treat male infertility problems. Our expert team of andrologists and uro-andrologists perform a testicular biopsy safely. Once we receive the results, our team guides the support and treats the patient with proper treatment strategies.

What Happens During the Procedure?

A testicular biopsy is an outpatient procedure and takes 15-20 minutes to perform. Based on your condition, the doctor may perform:

  • Percutaneous Biopsy:

This is a minimally invasive procedure in which a thin biopsy needle is inserted into the testicles through the skin. A small part of testicular tissue is extracted with gentle suction. The sample is studied under the microscope.

  • Open Biopsy:

This is a surgical biopsy in which the doctor cuts the testicles. A small part of the tissue is retrieved for diagnosis and the cut is stitched.
