About In-vitro Fertilization (IVF)

In-vitro fertilization or IVF is a procedure in which the woman’s eggs are removed from her ovaries and fertilized with her partner’s sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized egg or embryo thus formed is put back into the uterus to achieve pregnancy.

Best IVF doctor in Gujarat recommends IVF in couples with:

  • PCOS
  • Failure of IUI after 3 attempts
  • Pre-mature ovarian failures
  • Multiple abortions
  • Less than 10 million sperm count and less than 10% sperm motility
  • Age above 35 years
  • Prolonged infertility

IVF treatment in Delhi has turned quite common these days looking at the health conditions aggravated by lifestyle changes. Although common yet the procedure is critical and has to be performed with precision for accurate results. Hence, it is crucial to get yourself checked by the Best Infertility Specialist in Delhi and carry out the procedure in the Best IVF hospital in Delhi.

What is The Treatment Procedure for IVF?

Step 1: Consultation

Best IVF doctor in Delhi will conduct certain preparatory tests including infertility assessment, blood tests, hormonal tests, and physical fitness tests to determine your health conditions. Extra tests will also be conducted to check your ovarian reserves and the quality of your eggs before opting for IVF. Once the problems are evaluated, the doctor will give you a brief about the procedure.

At WINGS IVF, we offer Best IVF consultation. Our doctors will thoroughly explain the procedure to you with complete transparency.

Step 2: Financial Consulting

In the next step, our doctors will guide you about the finances, treatment cost, and overall costs of the treatment.

Step 3: Ovarian Stimulation

The doctor will administer certain injections to stimulate your ovaries to produce several eggs. Depending on your past medical history and present condition, the doctor will select one out of the two protocols; long protocol and antagonist protocol.

In the long protocol, injections will be given to you from the 21st day of your menstrual cycle. After this, you will need to come back on the 2nd or 3rd day of your next menstrual cycle to begin ovarian stimulation.

In the antagonist protocol, you will receive fewer injections and the treatment will begin on the 2nd day of your menstrual cycle.

In both of these protocols, the time for injection is the same everyday. The doctor will recommend you to visit the WINGS IVF everyday for injection. In case you can’t, our staff will also teach you how to self-administer. You may experience certain discomfort after these injections but it will subside in a few hours.

Step 4: Ultrasound Examination

Once your injections are started, you will be examined at regular intervals to assess the response in your ovaries. If there is no or poor response, the doctor may ask you to cancel the IVF cycle.

Step 5: HCG injection

An HCG injection will be administered to trigger the final maturation of eggs and prepare them for collection. Usually, the eggs are collected after 34-36 hours of injection.

Step 6: Egg Collection

Eggs will be removed from the ovaries with the help of transvaginal sonography. The procedure will take 15-30 minutes. The number of eggs will depend on your body’s response to the injections. You may experience spotting or abdominal discomfort after the procedure but it will also subside within two days.

Step 7: Sperm Collection

A fresh semen sample will also be collected on the same day as your egg collection. In some cases, the partner is unable to produce semen on the same day. Hence, the doctor will always reserve a sample from your partner in such cases. Your partner will be encouraged to provide the sample as a spare to be used in case of an emergency.

Step 8: Fertilization

Once both the eggs and sperms are retrieved, these will be fertilized in a dedicated lab by IVF or ICSI. The doctor will examine the eggs for further development.

Step 9: Embryo Transfer

Usually, an embryo is formed after 5 days of egg collection. The embryo transfer will be done after discussing it with you. The doctor will transfer embryos on 5th day into the uterus with the help of a thin tube. After this, you will receive certain medications to support the process.

Step 10: Pregnancy Test

You will receive a beta-HCG pregnancy test kit on the day of embryo transfer. The doctor will advise you to use the kit 2 weeks after your transfer. If the test is positive, an ultrasound will be done to confirm the pregnancy. In case of negative, further treatment will be discussed.
